CBSE Fee Hike: Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia has announced that the city government will pay the CBSE board exam fee for all the students from the government schools. This announcement came in the wake of the Central Board of Secondary Education Board increasing the examination fee for the class 10 and 12 board examination students from this year onwards.
Sisodia in a tweet said that the government of Delhi will pay the examination fee for all the class 10 and 12 CBSE students from the government schools from Delhi.
In a Circular dated August 23, 2019, the Delhi Directorate of Education asked all the government schools on the city not to collect any examination fee from the class 10 and 12 board examination students. The circular stated that the CBASE has increased the examination fee for the class 10 and 12 board examination for 2020. It was directed that the heads of the government schools, government-aided schools and that Patrachar Vidyalayas should not collect the examination fee from the 10, 12 board examination students until further notice. The circular however also stated that the process of making the list of students for the examination must continue.
The Central Board of Secondary Education had increased the examination fee for the general category students from Rs 750 to Rs. 1500 while the examination fee for the SC/ST students was increased from Rs. 350 to Rs. 1200. The board however restored the fee for the SC/ST students of Delhi government schools after the government agreed to pay the balance amount of the students of the SC/ST category.
